Areteem Foundation
Mission and Work
Areteem Foundation, also known as Zoom Education Foundation and Resources, is a non-profit 501c(3) organization, that was founded by community leaders in 2010. The mission of Zoom Education Foundation and Resources (ZEFR) is to promote education in the fields of math, science, engineering and technology especially to those individuals who are socially & economically disadvantaged; to increase the cultural awareness of the importance of math, science, engineering and technology for an individual's development and a country's success in global competitions; and to provide opportunities that inspire educators, youth, and parents for the development of future leaders and a competent workforce with high performance.

Empowering Students and Teachers
Areteem Foundation wants to help all students, without discrimination of any kind, focusing on two key areas of student growth.
- Desire to Learn: With the right motivation and guidance, students should enjoy learning new ideas and seek them out. Areteem aims to foster interest in learning and train students in ways they can continue their learning independently.
- Deep Exploration of Interests: ZEFR wants to challenge students to deepen their knowledge in the areas that interest them. In this way, students learn creative problem solving skills and the value of hard work.
Areteem Foundation is also dedicated to training students and teachers to share these ideals with others. Students receive training on how to do outreach in their own communities and Areteem's Teacher’s Institute helps educators better inspire their own students.
Our Dedication to ALL Students:
The Areteem Foundation is committed to serving everyone. The inability to pay will not prevent youth from receiving our valuable programming. Our scholarship fund is available for both after school and summer offerings. At Areteem, we are convinced that student participation will undoubtedly:
- Close opportunity gaps – Underserved youth often attend under-resourced schools; STEM tutoring helps bridge disparities in access to quality instruction and materials.
- Build confidence in challenging subjects – Many students internalize the belief that math and science “aren’t for them.” Personalized tutoring builds mastery and self-efficacy.
- Improve academic performance – Targeted support increases grades, standardized test scores, and overall STEM competency.
- Expand college access – Strong performance in STEM subjects improves eligibility for competitive universities, scholarships, and majors.
- Open pathways to high-demand careers – STEM fields (technology, engineering, healthcare, data science) offer higher earning potential and long-term job stability.
- Promote economic mobility – Access to STEM education can help break cycles of poverty by connecting students to well-paying career tracks.
- Encourage representation and diversity – Supporting underserved youth increases participation of underrepresented groups in STEM, leading to more inclusive innovation.
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills – STEM tutoring strengthens analytical reasoning that benefits students across all subjects and life decisions.
- Support workforce development – Communities benefit when more local students are prepared for future-oriented careers in science and technology.
- Reduce dropout risk – Students who feel supported academically are more likely to stay engaged and graduate.
- Provide mentorship and role models – Tutors can serve as positive academic and professional role models, expanding students’ sense of possibility.
